Social Enterprise, Collaboration and Sustainability

Open Space Conference, Sunderland Glass Centre, 19th November 2009

Feedback

"The whole idea of 'open space' was completely new to me and to be honest I thought it wouldn't work.
How wrong I was. Great idea! People actually got what they wanted and not being dictated to.
Great networking too."
Michelle Scott, RED

"I thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and discussing the social enterprise issues."
Amelia Henderson, Enterprise UK

"I must admit the conference saved me a lot time, which I would have spent otherwise
searching through friends and on the internet. It was great to see people with
knowledge from personal experience or otherwise. I greatly benefited by knowing people
who have just taken off and others who help build their dreams.
Then there were those who offered help, because of shared passion. It was all fantastic. Kudos..."

Komal Chakravarthi Kantam

"Thanks for yesterday! Like I said to you both: it felt like a conference for adults.
I like the fact that we decided our own sessions. It was useful that you mentioned
the 4 principles because we tend to follow standard conference behaviour."

Ineke (Gamelan at Play & Sustainable Allendale)

"I really enjoyed yesterday and found it very useful – so thank you!
Regarding the benefits/value of the conference – I made some new contacts,
and some good ideas were generated, specifically around the need for a central
information point for business support and finance information.
"
Helen Armitage, NESEP

"Just to say I thought the day was great, a lot of new and renewed contacts,
you can't beat meeting people face-to-face and would definitely like
to be part of any group that takes forward the marketplace concept!"
Judith Brown, Cooperatives North East

"I was initially wary of being allowed to set my own agenda as such but it was, in the end,
a very liberating experience. The positives are many the negatives are few if not pointless.
Overall the day was really good, the debates were often lively and very energising.

I made a umber of new friends within the sector and have been invited to speak at
some meetings and collaborate with other organisations who liked what I contributed.
It was nice to meet others who share my thoughts and concerns for our sector moving into the
future, but equally as nice to find others who will do their best to overcome the potential
issues we will all face.

I recommend that potential delegates at least "Give it a go" and attend an
Open Space Conference when they have the opportunity. I had a fun day mixing with
my peers and making things happen the way WE wanted. Thanks for a great and novel day."
Derek Foxton, Founder, The Sust Trust

"I enjoyed the rapport and networking and got some good ideas from the day."
Irene Lindsay, MD, Disability Arts Empowerment CIC

"I thought it was a very helpful and informative day and look forward to
the next one, which I hope you are planning."
